The world is changing and business dynamics are changing with it.  Temp recruitment is trending worldwide and carrying classically working professionals to a different level.

Michael Page, an international recruitment consultancy firm, conducted a global study about temporary recruitment. “Temporary Recruitment Study” showcases the picture of professionals working on seasonal or temporary contracts are changing. In recent years 67% of managers and 47% of employees working as temps stated that they have made progress in their careers. According to the research, job satisfaction in temp roles is around 75%. This international research is based on the analyses obtained from interviews with 1,954 managers and 4,092 employees who work with temporary contracts.

Michael Page Türkiye Managing Director Hugo Campo says “Today, employees’ performances are measured not by the time spent in the office but by performance. Even though in Türkiye businesses still have a distant approach towards temp recruitment, temp working is already trending globally.”

Temp employees mostly work in the following sectors: Banking / Finance 13%, Industrial Production 11%, Technology 9%, Healthcare 6%.  While 71% of temps work 2 years or more in a temp job, this number is decreased to 44% in 5 years or more in a temp job. Women make the majority of temps with 54%, and men follow them with 46%. Professionals following this trend have the average age of 42 and 65% have 10 years or more experience.

Flexible working is appealing to people

A group of people -which 70% of had a Bachelor’s Degree- was asked why they chose to work as a temp, majority of them answered with the appeal of having flexible working conditions. 61% of interviewed, stated working as a temp is much more complex and requires more autonomy.

Permanent contracts are becoming temporary contracts

Companies seem to pleased about the situation as well. 40% of participant companies prefer recruiting temps in positions that used to be permanent. The problems that may arise with this are solved with trainings. Permanent employment is still alluring in Türkiye.
